Spoon is one of those bands that consistently release good albums, and LOTS is no exception. They’re one of my favorite bands, and they always deliver. The band changes direction a bit away from the electronic dance grooves of Hot Thoughts, and They Want My Soul to a more rock-oriented record. This is where the band shines imo. Some of the best tracks include Held, The Hardest Cut, The Devil & Mister Jones, Wild, and Feels Alright. The tracks are catchy, exceptionally well-polished, and make you want to get up and move! Where the album falls short is in the more mellow songs and ballads. Ballads are good in their own right and work well as interludes, but it’s not Spoon’s strongest suit, and that’s where the album suffers. Side A sounds explosive, urgent, and exciting. The album's second half meanders in maudlin sentimentality and slowly fades by the end. It’s anticlimactic. The album shines when Spoon does what they do best: rocking out. The album is still good. I can’t wait to hear what they have in store next!
