Not bad, but could be better

For another one of David Guetta’s “reboot” songs, this isn’t bad. The song itself is well-written, but I think making the “Dragostea Din Tei” melody the only big hook of the song was a mistake. Perhaps adding an additional instrumental melody would have helped (i.e. Avicii’s Wake Me Up has the sung “wake me up” chorus and the synth melody for the drop.) As it is the throwback gimmick serves as the center/crux of the song, which in my opinion it’s not strong enough to be.
In short I had medium expectations for the song, and this just about meets them - but I think it gets in its own way too much to go any further.
