  • Dolly, my best friend

I feel like Dolly Parton has been my surrogate mother my entire life. Growing up as a young child I would pretend she was my best friend and i'd ask her for advice. Her albums have been played in my homes and gotten me thru the best and worst of times. I have collected every LP and tried to see her live as often as possible. The album A Real Live Dolly is a special and rare treat, so much in fact that my heart raced to see it on iTunes! Here Dolly swings it and pushes her energy to the point where you can feel the excitement from her as well as her hometown audience. It's amazing to here A LEGEND such as Dolly in the beginning of her professional life only to realize that her stage presence has remained as sweet and genuine throughout her entire career. Tall Man and He's A Go Getter are such cute songs! She tackles sad and poignant songs like Put It Off Until Tomorrow, Jeannie's Afraid Of The Dark, and Daddy Come And Get Me with the same amount of clarity and ease as she does with upbeat, joyful tunes like You All Come (Ya'll Come), the story Bloody Bones and Run That By Me One More Time! Dolly favorites like My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy, Just Because I'm A Woman and Coat Of Many Colors are here too! So do yourself a favor and buy A Real Live Dolly she's fantastic. This is an album everyone should listen to. I love you Dolly.
