I dont know too much about Son, Ambulance, but these songs are acceptable. They vary greatly from the Briht Eyes songs, however, so there is no "teamwork" play there. It seems as if this album was the "economic" solution to expensive studio time. Yet I have heard every Bright Eyes song there is out there, and these are among the best. Each song is recorded with the exact way the poetry reads. It is captivating, inspiring, and a work of art. "No Lies, Just Love", in particular, is a reflection of Oberst's ability to depict imagery and emotion into a great, great poem.
  • I really like this album

Perhaps because the two vocalists have such different styles, but work well trading back and forth.

Not to downplay the Son, Ambulance tracks, BUT! This ep contains four of the greatest Bright Eyes songs ever written. If you have heard any of the recent songs from Bright Eyes, you should invest some money in this because "Oh, You are the Roots..." and "Kathy With a K's Song" are argueably his best love songs.

This album is a phenomenal mix of the two bands. Although there are only 7 tracks on the entire album, the quality of each song makes up for it. If you are looking for a great cd for a long road trip, then you are going to want to purchase this great album. It's one of my favorites.
