What a beautiful song, love you Patti. Great production. 🎤❤️🎶 Originally an Italian song called “Piano” 1964. Sung by Frank Sinatra and played on his passing day in 1998. It is said by Elvis that he heard it was about a married couple from Florida. It just shows that this song is truly timeless and sung now by the wonderful Patti LaBelle.

Patti can just sing! One of the most legendary voices of our times. Arrangements are spot on.
  • Patti is perfect...arrangements... a bit overwrought

When you have a voice and a talent such as those belonging to Ms. LaBelle, you can afford to make the arrangements a little more spare so that the true instrument, her voice, can shine through. Still, Patti LaBelle sings jazz! My minor nitpik with the arrangements doesn't take away any of her brilliance. This is a very worthwhile record to have in your collection.

she needs to stick to what she knows best: soul music, she doesn't have the training for jazz singing. she should have entered that genre much earlier to develop that art form.

I love Patti LaBelle. As a person. As an artist. As a risk taker. I have long been mesmerized by her blessed musical gift. Perhaps like you, I saw her on the Today Show (NBC), where she honestly talked about her first entry into the Jazz genre, admitting the nervousness she felt that she might not be up to the task. But what is Jazz, after all, but a platform for the improvisational interplay among performers, not to mention listeners? And is there really a difference between “Jazz” and “Gospel” and “Blues?” One reviewer in particular asked, “what happened to the voice?” Frankly, what happened was the recording engineer’s inability to properly mic that voice throughout the enormous range that Patti is blessed with. The deep richness so evident at the bottom of her range was lost in the distorted, raspy harshness of her powerful upper range, victimized by poor recording technique. What happened to the voice was the producer’s unwillingness to get out of her way. Give the lady some space, please! Let her fly. Let her emote. Let her “find her voice,” no different than any artist must find his or her own voice. This, after all, is an artistic legend who need not fear what others may think. And to the reviewer who blamed her age? Shame on you. I wish I had her strength. And wisdom.

Lost her touch? I think NOT! She's not afraid to venture into new territory. I thought the CD sounds great. Especially her duet with Kem. Different? Yes. But lost her touch? Nope. Still the Patti I've been listening to for 35+ years.😎

I listened to the CD. For Patti's first Jazz album it's okay. There are a few songs I am not thrilled with. But for the most part it's good.
