The master is at it again and does not dissapoint..unless your a tired stuck in the seventies guy. George has produced another groundbreaking album. It traverses from sound to sound but all carry that spirit of funk. I really love this album.

if you were looking for a revival of the old school Parliament sound, this album may not be what you expected. Clinton, who announced that he will retire from touring in 2019, is clearly passing the torch to the 2nd/3rd generation of the P-Funk family, including his grandchildren. Of the album’s 23 tracks, a little over half feature hip hop and neo-soul(ish) grooves, with just a hint of the Parliament sound that was so influential to these genres. These tracks lack originality and are mediocre at best, especially Clinton’s attempt at Trap music, and even more, one of the lead rappers sounds a LOT like Tupac. Clinton’s granddaughters, Candy Apple Red, do a solid job on vocals, but overall nextgen P-Funk shows little promise of new and groundbreaking work that fans of the P hoped would redefine Funk for a new generation. (For that, look to Gary Schider Jr.!) If the 1st half of the CD is a bit disappointing, The CD’s second half is All Funk. (along with I’m Gon Make You Sick (of me), and 69, which appear earlier on the CD). Again, nothing groundbreaking here, and Bernie and Junie are DEFINITELY missed, but the grooves have that familiar feel we know and love as Parliament. And it’s still FUNKY after all these years! Final Take: A worthy addition, notable for the sake of nostalgia, and as a potential dawn of a new era of P-Funk. But hopefully not the last from Parliament (Funkadelic’s ‘First You Gotta Shake the Gate’ is a much stronger album) .
  • It’s got a 3 on it though to me

It’s a decent album with some nice grooves and strong horn arrangements. However, this offering would be better appreciated if it were not presented as a “Parliament” album. This album does not meet the musical standards of a Parliament album. It would be more palatable as a George Clinton album. The album is overladen with rap, which detracts from some of the stronger tracks. That said, it is a marked improvement over George Clinton’s latest Funkadelic offering, Shake The Gate; particularly with regards to sound quality. If you’re looking for a traditional Parliament record, you will be sorely disappointed. However, if you are able to let go of expectations established by Parliament, then you will better appreciate this recording. Highlights are: I’m Gon Make You Sick Type Two Loodie Poo da Pimp DaDa Oil Jones

This isn’t even remotely like a Parliament Album from the past. There’s no theme, no story, no continuity; barely any funk. You can update the funk and still stay current. This is basically bad hip hop, with a just tidbit of anything that remotely resembles funk, outside of “I’m gonna make you sick o me” and “oil jones.” You’ve heard of smooth jazz and how that is perceived by jazz purists as a watered down excuse for jazz? Well this is smooth funk.

Bravo! As a longtime P-Funk fan, I've been waiting 38 years for a new Parliament release. The day has come and I sit here with tears in my eyes marveling at the genius of George Clinton. This album is worthy of the Parliament name. George is inspired and the musical stew is delicious. The young blood of the P-Funk family mix perfectly with the old vets of the Mothership. Get ready to start Butt-dialing folks when this one is pumping!
