Listening to this has reminded me of how much I've missed Tom Petty since he died. I gave it a first listen while working at my desk and enjoyed the heck out of it. Despite being a fan, I found that I didn't know many of these songs and it was refreshing to discover some new material.

The two new previously unreleased studio tracks on this are MUST HAVES for TP & Heartbreakes fans, don't think it's worth buying the rest. How many times are they gpoing to release the same songs from this album?!? There must be five or six versions of some of these songs out there when you include the live versions.

There are two kinds of reviews. Both seem to agree that Tom Petty was great, that Wildflowers was one of his best or even simply his best album, and that the recordings are awesome. Some people are upset that this is something that was included in super special deluxe versions of the Wildflowers and All the Rest boxed set. Some people wonder how many versions of these songs we need, and think that further releases are a cash grab. For me...I'm glad these are available separately from an expensive boxed set...and the alternate versions are high quality and different from the versions on Wildflowers. And different from the "home demo" versions on the Wildflowers and All the Rest set released a few months ago. It comes down to this---these versions are different and stellar. I want them. A lot of people will want them. If anything, when I hear these different versions, it makes me respect Tom and Rick Rubin even more becasue I would have had a very hard time choosing which versions of some of these songs to put on the final album. I hope they do this kind of treatment for more of his albums, although a lot of stuff from the vault has already been released.

Tom Petty had the guitar riffs, harmonies, vocals and percussion which stand the test of time. If you don’t like what he has to offer, don’t listen or purchase the material. Often imitated yet, never duplicated - Tom Petty!
  • No complaints here like....

The others, if you enjoy Petty and his craft, all of this wildflower releases is just a glimpse of the process to get to what we have. Imagine all the stuff in the archives of other bands that will never see the light of day

This was supposed to be something special for those of us who bought the deluxe edition. Now, they're selling it for 12 bucks.
