The Heart of Summer

Jeff Larson delivers another fine album, arguably his best so far. For those of you who haven't yet discovered this California singer-songwriter, imagine if Gerry Beckley had joined the Beach Boys instead of America. Larson's voice is a cross between Beckley and Carl Wilson, but don't consider him a "B-team" version of anyone. His songwriting, musicianship, and especially his singing are a unique treasure with an honest feel that you don't find in most music these days.
Richly produced by Hank Linderman, Larson has some top notch friends sitting in: Jeffrey Foskett (from Brian Wilson's band), Robert Lamm (Chicago), and Dewey Bunnell & Gerry Beckley (America), among others. Pick out virtually any song and you'll be coming back for more. Or better yet, get the whole album.
