It's smooth and yet exciting, it's strange and yet familiar. I grew up listening to this album(I'm only 17). I know all the songs by heart and it's still one of my favorites despite the evolution of my musical taste. The combination of guitar, bass, keyboard, horns, violins and didgeridoos, plus Jay Kay's wonderful voice is just music to my ears.
Best Jamiroquai album, dull mix

Guys, trust someone who had the CD back in 1993 - the mix on Emergency on Planet Earth was ALWAYS dull and matte. When you played it, it sounded like there was a towel over the speakers. That was my only gripe about this awesomely written album. It's not iTunes' fault.
I really like the preview of this but.....

WHY, WHY, WHY, Won't iTunes address ever comments like the one who said something was wrong with the sound quality. iTunes, say something to your customers like "we fixed the problem" or "sorry this is the best quality we offer at this time". As of 2014 there is no information about the quality of this cd, if the previews sound better than the whole download, so therefore I won't be buying this today from iTunes and will purchase elsewhere!

Blow Your Mind was the first Jamiroquai song I'd ever heard. I was hooked immediately, during the intro. Memorized the name and searched every store (remember the days of pre-internet shopping?) until I finally found the album. Music that makes you think, dance, and gets deep inside you. I hope they look to their roots for their next album this year (despite the lack of Stu and the digeridoo).

Hard to believe this album came out in 1993. There is something so modern and still classic about the rhythm section. EOPE could have been made in 1973, 1993, or 2003, and it would still be considered an incredible body of work. When You Gonna Learn? has the similarly unfortunate timeless cautionary vibe as Marvin Gaye"s Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology). Blow Your Mind takes a break from the issues and just grooves. Punchy horns, slinky bass (Stuart Zender), and an ongoing invitation to nod your head. Whether one agrees with the evolution of Jamiroquai's sound (see Synchronized, A Funk Odyssey and Dynamite), Emergency on Planet Earth truly stands the funky test of time.

This is the Jamiroquai that I love. I'll always come back to this record for that Acid Jazz fix. This album as well as The Brand New Heavies "Brother Sister" was always in the changer back in the day. I'm a sax player so I enjoy the horn arrangements on this record. They tend to use less and less horns as their records progress. No programming on this release either. Just straight up rhythm section and aux percussion with some nice vintage synth.
