Reviews

  • Did you listen to the same album I did?

Sorry, I'm one of the biggest Chicago fans ever. I've owned all of their albums on multiple formats -- LP, Casette, CD, and now ITunes, some in three different. And this album is nothing but Chicago rejects and overflow. I love Bobby Lamm and long live Bobby and Chicago. But this album is terrible. If it's his best I'm glad I know now so that I don't waste my money. The best track on the album is the title track and then only because you get to hear it without the brass -- it's the same recording as found on Chicago VII. The lyrics are pedantic, the music cliched and predictable, trite, boring, lethargic, unoriginal, the production pretentious, dated, and horrible. Well maybe it wasn't that bad. But it sure wasn't good.

Bobby Lamm is a genius. He will be found out . . . years from now. When that happens, this album will stand out as his best solo outing. Pure, free, motivated, and sincere. A must-buy for all Robert Lamm / Chicago Fans !
  • A truly innovated solo album and a foreshadowing of Robert's future albums!

Sometimes albums get made and nobody hears them. This was one of those LPs! I can only hope in this age of digital downloads and people experimenting with their musical taste... lots of folks will give this a listen! Soulful, romantic, strained by the pressures of life, and just flat out unique... this album has it all. Fast moving tracks like City Living & Skinny Boy (different version than on Chicago VII) give way to soulful ballads like A Lifetime We (just classic Robert!) and Fireplace And Ivy. I've had this record since the original album was released and come back to it time and again to remember how free musicians where back in the 70's to play from their heart and soul! You will not be disappointed! And Robert! Thanks for the extra tracks on this 2.0 release... as a lifelong Chicago fan I relaize how hard this stuff is to come by and get published. More power to you "Word Man"
