I have a lot of experience with musicals, and I can officially say that this is quite good... for a concept recording. The music is good, the lyrics could use some tweaking, and the cast-- with the significant exception of Blackbeard himself-- is fantastic. The actor playing Blackbeard is much, much too forced with the accent, and he comes out sounding very annoying. On the other hand, Mary and Maynard are two of the best new voices I've heard in this decade! I would definitely recommend "Take Me Instead" and "The Man I Love." Overall, I can't wait to see how this will turn out when it's out of the workshop stage. I'm watching for it on Broadway in the next few years!

This album is incredible. I thought I'd be wasting my money when I purchased it, butaas it turns out, I did not. Every song is beautifully written and melodious and the voices singing them are some of the best I've heard in a while. Buy this album now.

Blackbeard the Musical has been my best iTunes purchase every. The cast was exceptionally fantastic. The voices of Tyler Maxson, Linsey Maxson, Jere Van Patten, Jordan Bluth, Elise Coleman and Chrisma Miller took this concept album from a community theatre show to sounding like a Broadway Musical.
