No, Do not listen to them. I have no words to describe how terrible they are. I listen to this type of music and this is close to a mockery of it. They are the worst band I have ever seen live and just about the worst band ever.

In terms of the all too familiar Old School Dillinger VS. New School Dillinger; I must admit I was part of the old school camp. While Miss Machine might have been too different, too quickly (although its starting to catch upto me as well). Ire Works made me eat my ignorant words after giving it a real listen. DEP have created their most brilliant and untouchable album right here. Every song superbly crafted into a sleek and somewhat overwhelming technical hardcore masterpiece. And Vocalist Greg Puciato finally comes into his own, with an astounding performance and craft that becomes very easy to latch onto. His singing/screaming has found its niche in the band and becomes the new direction of the bands sound. The song 'Lurch' borders on that old Under The Running Board feel with its mind blowing tempo shifts and sharp hardcore shreddy dynamic. While songs like 'Dead as History' & 'Mouth of Ghosts' bring a new sense of vivid experimentalism that really shapes the albums overall brilliance. Both of those are the highlights for me anyway. As for two instantly memorable Instrumental tracks that groove and slice your skull with such an amazing precision. Also, the drummer hired for this album is no slouch either. Bringing a great backbone to Dillingers madness, his drums have more of a thick, boisterous blast to them, and he can keep up with their signature madness just fine. Even with only one original member left; DEP still proves they are one band of a constantly evolvoing genre that will always be on top of their game. And Ire Works proves this instantly, and incredibly.

I love dillinger, they always put out good albums and this one is well thought out with the insane time signatures and how everything is chaotic and milk lizard is chilled so you get a nice break and then more madness explodes with party smasher. Awesome.
  • Unbelievable!

Just when you thought that TDEP couldn't get any better (unless you bailed after they released Miss Machine) they did. Playing with time signatures and unbelievalbe experimentation seem to be no problem for this band, ever since Under the Running Board that has been apparent. I also belive that they have managed to fuse genres even more effectively than their forebarrers Mr. Bungle as they seem to be able to better empesize a genre part rather than leave it at the first sign that someone might before it can be explored enough. 1.Fix Your Face- this song basically slams your face into a wall but controls you all the while and you realize that it could stop any time it wants to, cool guitar, blistering vocals. 10/10 2.Lurch- Stalker anthem, this song is really creepy-awesome with lines like "your picture in my pocket i'm obsessed with you." headspinningly technical and the vocals are both decipherable and unbelievably crushing. 10/10 3.Black Bubblegum- another great song, its kind of like a dark experimental mock pop song which is super catchy and shows off the vocalist's range. 10/10 4.Sick on Sunday- I don't even know how to describe this kind of weird trippy but also stranggely beautiful. 8.5/10 5.When acting as a Particle- cool instumental sound effects kind of song, not important so much as a song on its own put as a mood builder for a unique album. ?/10 trippy and dreammy........ 6.Nong Eye Gong- but don't get to comfortable, here's one of the heaviest songs on the album with more brutal vox and 2 really good instrumental choruses which sort of change the flow of the song for a moment. Arty. 9/10 7.When Acting as a Wave- More fun instrumentals and sound effecs, this ones a little heavier and more brooding than its counterpart. ?/10 8.82588- and here it goes again super technical and destructive, with more of the duh-duh-duh-suh instumental blasts, super brutal but the guitars are actually mellow for alot, contrasting the drum blasts and crushing vox. 8/10 9.Milk Lizards- wow more fun catchy guitar hooks interspersed with some more melodic vocals along with some vearing on insanity in the pre-chorus, as well as cool piano and some really good clean vocals in the chorus, cool lyrics also. 10/10 10.Party Smasher- More jackhammers of noise and torrents of insane time signatures, with once again some crushingly heavy vocals. 7.5/10 11.Dead As History- Starts off with and atmospheric begining and some piano and mellow guitar, wind etc. followed by some electronica beeps before going into some dangerous sounding clean vocals and mutted guitar. This song for one has really pretty vocals and ends with some crazy and very chilling falsetto stuff at the end. 10/10 12. Horse Hunter- Pretty fun song this one includes the vocalist from mastodon and is pretty heavy but not really fast and it has a nice melodic vocal duet at the end. 9/10 13.Mouth of Ghosts- Very mellow and atmospheric for about two minutes, the guitar and drums finally pick up but are still faded to the background for a nice layered effect with a cool piano solo around 2:40. almost 4 minutes in the vocals start again and are a bit more distorted for lack of a better word, less sedate, but no really screaming. In the last minute and a half the dampening magically disappears and the song becomes a bit more typical before finally ending on a heavy note, great way to end the album. 10/10 Great album and should be listened to as a whole to fully apreciate it, it often becomes trancelike and it feels like it ends so quicky, a great sign that it was very enjoyable. Along with Dream Theater, these guys are the best band pushing the progressive and technicle metal genres as far as pushing the limits of playing ability and experimentation.

Every song will switch it up on you at some point, it has a unique sound. Definitely not boring and does not stay the same the whole way through like some. Also the guitar in Party Smasher sounds like the definition of paranoia or delusions that the world is plotting against.
