A good comeback album

Although "Face Up" received no promotion in US, and could only reach #38 at UK Chart, it rescued Lisa from being stuck on 1990's. She proved that she can follow the trends and harmonize 90's house and R'n'B, with 2000's pop in her unique style.
Different but still great Mrs Stansfield?

Why did this album recieve no promotion(s) in the states. Mrs Stansfield is still a legendary singer and songstress. This album is different from the her previous albums, but is still a great album. She has alot of versatility that I did not know she had, until I listened to this album. Great work Mrs. Stanfield. I just wish that your album would get promoted in the states more often.
Not a new Lisa, just the one we all love.

Although this album received zero promotion in the U.S., I somehow located a CD-single of "8-3-1". You know it's a good sign when the album version AND the remixes are equally good. The Brits got a few extra tracks on their version (including "All Over Me" mentioned in the review here) so I can't speak to those, but the ones listed here are typical Lisa Stansfield quality.
"8-3-1" is the immediate standout, and the mid-tempo title track. The others grow on you in the usual way her albums do over time, which may be why this was initially dismissed--which no LS album should ever be! It may not be part of the great Trilogy (Affection, Real Love, and "Lisa Stansfield"), but it's definitely worth it for fans to check out.
