    I discovered jazz through Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. I dare any jazz fan to find one selection on this recording that you don't love. I am in debt to this band forever.

    This is perhaps Blakey's best late period recording featuring GREAT personnel w/ Bobby Watson, James Williams and Wynton Marsalis (first recording). The recording also features some great tunes with Watson's "In Case you Missed It", Williams "Soulful Mr. Timmons", Charlie Parker's "Cheryl" and Pamela Watson's "Ms. BC" (for Betty Carter) among the highlights. One of my favorites. FYI - the first two tunes (Oh-By the Way and Duck Soup) are from a different session with different personnel (featuring Terence Blanchard & Donald Harrison)
