    Blakey recorded 3 classic on-location dates at Birdland for Blue Note Records. The first is the session with Clifford Brown, the first “live” date ever recorded for Blue Note by Rudy Van Gelder. The 2nd is this one, “At the Jazz Corner of the World” (with one of Lee Morgan’s best-ever solos on “Justice”). The 3rd is easily overlooked or confused with the 2nd because its title is so close: “Meet You at the Jazz Corner of the World.” Any genuine Blakey fan will find both essential. (I prefer the 2nd because of Mobley’s presence, but Wayne Shorter fans may prefer the 3rd.)
