Wasn't Groove of Midnight one of MJ songs?

Siedah Garrett is one of the most underrated singers from the 80's and 90's. She is best known for co-writing "Man In The Mirror" for Michael Jackson and for being a featured vocalist on two of Quincy Jones' solo albums. However, her voice is GOLD! It's really a shame that she never had a record label or A&R executive who really "got" her. Siedah should be up there with Chaka Khan. I really do love this album. There are some killer songs on it from "Refuse to Be Loose" to "Groove of Midnight" to "Innocent Side" to "The Legend of Ruby DIamond." I think she would have benefited from singing more Rod Temperton songs and from writing and co-wriing some of her own material for this album. Can you imagine an album co-written by Siedah and Rod Temperton!? I can't believe that Warner Bros. dropper her after this album. It didn't sell a lot but it certainly proved that Siedah could sound amazing singing an entire album of music. This is a shining example of why Warner Bros. Records missed the boat again and went down the tubes.

i have cherished this record / cd ( i have both ) since the eighties when i vacationed in florida in hottest august. all the songs drip joy, fun and fine memories. the video of the tune 'refuse to be loose' serves as one good lesson in hot filmmaking. it took me forever to tape it from BET back when. now if i could only find it.... the song 'groove of midnight' has become a staple in any cd i create for gifts.i feel lucky that i have the cd as a backup hard copy. a delight, and one hell of a singer.

This is considered to be a "lost" album and hard to find. The work suffered only from its lack on play time on the air. It is one of the few places where Siedah's voice, only her voice, could be showcased. Before and shortly there after this album came out, she sang with others. Michael Jackson is just one. It is very hard to find solo albums for her. Though the "Kissing" song was the popular hit on the album, it is much better than most people thought and needed no hype to be good. It's greatness is in the lyrics. Just listen to "The Legend of Ruby Diamond". It tells a great story. Groove of Midnight is also a smooth groove. Give the album a good listen... it will grow on you. Thanks I-tune for going back and providing hard to find R&B.

The CD was not one of Siedahs best, but K.I.S.S.I.N.G. is a must for any 80's dance collection. I still move when I hear this song!
