    Supercharged and electric! This record has a great feel driven home by Jimmy Lester's soulful and tasty beats. He rides the perfect balance of reverence for the past with a truly contemporary and original approach. His playing is the reason this band doesn't sound like just another instrumental party band. Kudos for great production on this one too.

    Probably the best number is "San Diego Shutdown", which has an irresistable groove. A solid, entertaining surf rock album.

    America's premier instrumental rock and roll combo are back at it, doing what they do best. Taking a largely live-in-the-studio approach to their rhythmic and sonic explorations, Los Straitjackets deliver. Really tight instrumental rock and roll is far harder than it looks, and these guys make it seem easy. From the creepy horror-instros of Squid and Tarantula, to a lovely bit of Merseybeat with Isn't Love Grand, to San Diego Shutdown's hot-rod rock, to the straightforward surf of Beach Bag, Los Straits run the gamut. SSI3D is not necessarily Los Straits' best album, but it is certainly rock solid and stands up with their best.
