I've been listening to Ben folds for a long time, and I really like this album. But the first time I bought this album there was a twelfth song called Christian life that I really liked! Come on iTunes!

Picture Window might be Ben's best song. Strike that: It IS his best song. It's odd how Ben-esq the lyrics sound even though they're written by Nick. A great collaboration!

i have a feeling i'm really going to love this album. it's got a bit of different sounds to it, some not palatable at first, but i think they will grow on me alot. the first time I heard Ben Folds about 15 years ago I hated him. i thought he was a goon. but all of my favorite bands and artists start that way. mainly because they're so different. then i slowly realize that I'm listening to them nonstop and before I know it I argue with people that don't like them. I do the same thing with Fiona Apple albums. I recommend buying this album because on the first listen of the previews, you won't get as much out of it because it's one of those recordings that sells itself as a whole package and not just a collection of unrelated songs. (the main reason I never buy "best of" albums.

Its amazing what time and a few more listens can do to change your heart. Maybe thats Ben's intent to have music that grows on you. Lonely Avenue is still not his best album, but most of the songs are good (some are great such as Levi Johnston's Blues), but I guess every album can't be a homerun. The album still sounds forced and tired, but Ben has always been a good song writter. Just like Way to Normal, give it another listen or two. If you are a true Ben Folds fan, he deserves it. I'm still a huge fan, and will always purchase anything that he releases, but maybe its time for Ben to take a break, grow a beard, and return to his roots: Just him, a piano, a bass, and drums. Nothing else.
  • The album is the BEST.

I'm a huge Ben Folds fan, and as someone who thought Way to Normal was by far his worst work, it was nice to see him back in top form (although there are a lot of musical similarities to Way to Normal, just done a lot better). Hornby's lyrics are very similar to Folds', though maybe a bit more sophisticated. Same tone though. There isn't a single song I don't like, though Working Day is probably my least favorite, considering it seems mainly to be an introduction to the sounds of the album. Critics don't really like Levi Johnston's Blues, but I think it's one of the best, along with Doc Pomus, Claire's Ninth, and Saskia Hamilton. Not my favorite by Mr. Folds, but still a very satisfying album.

Love it, Ben and Nick. What you guys have here is pristine art. Picture Window and Claire's Ninth really struck me deeply- as well as the rest of the charts. I've been following Folds for 8 years now, and he still remains one of my biggest musical inspirations. Keep it coming!
