I was VERY disappointed with this cd. She has quite the reputation but this recording makes me question why?? This is not Bach or Schubert; this is Dinnerstein and a great publicist. There is not a sense of forward motion, no sense of harmonic rhythm and no sense of style. Her Bach sounds like it is a mash-up with Debussy. The overall impression of this recording makes me feel like I'm listening to a new age crossover artist. It's in line with Jackie Evancho singing "opera." If you want to hear the Bach Partitas done well, I'd suggest Andras Schiff's live recording. For the Schubert Impromptus, check out Imogen Cooper. I will keep this recording and use it as an example of how not to play.

Indeed, her music has a voice and I love what it says to me. I remember my dad playing the Impromtus and now hearing Simone play it with such elegance and delight - just warms my heart. Thank you, Simone. You are a true treasure of Brooklyn. Pierre D.

I love her playing, so intelligent and heart felt. Recording quality is excellent, too.
  • Doesn't quite cut it

While the tone is beautiful the tempi are languid with almost no forward movement or overall structure, especially in the Bach dance movements. A very pretty performance but not really what I am looking for in Bach or Schubert
  • Something almost bland

Even her gorgeous tone can't save herself from this attempt. The Bach is lifeless, the Chopin passible. She achieves a sameness in tone to give the album a sense of unity, bit it ruins the characters of the pieces. I'd pass over this. -Bz

Thank you Simone, you have done it again! Joyful, refreshing Bach. Harmonious, blissful Shubert. Well done Mrs. Dinnerstein! So fresh, earthy and magically enthralling. The playing is world class, as always, and the recording is brilliantly executed. Crisp, bright highs and warm, comforting lows. My ears are so happy... P.S. iTunes fixed the download issue, all is well :)
