For me it started with a copy of the Columbia Records music sampler called "The Music People" containing something you never see anymore. NEW MUSIC! Little did I realize that one cut on this album "Dawn" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra would trigger a 30 plus year love affair with the greatest rock jazz fusion band of all time. This debut still blows my mind to this day. I now own everything John McLaughlin has ever done and just saw Billy Cobham LIVE in Phoenix. He hasn't lost a beat. (pun intended) Saw this original five live from the first row at Detroit's Masonic Auditorium in 1975. The interplay between Jerry Goodman on violin, Jan Hammer on keyboards and McLaughlin are some of the most electrifying ever caught on vinyl. Download this and bring really good headphones!

This is a wonderful album but for some reason "The Noonward Race" stops near the middle and goes to the next song. Other than that its awesome, I would recommend this album to others in a heartbeat.
