I had the pleasure of seeing Anya Marina perform much of her new album at Joe's Pub in NYC. She is legitimately one of the gems of this generation. Her music is completely her own. She is eclectic and has the freedom to relay the messages she wants through her own music. Uninhibited by her record label. It's rare to have an artist that isn't afraid to delve into many different genre's of music within their album collection, let alone within one album. Perhaps because of this she doesn't get the notice she deserves, but it doesn't seem to deter her. She is true to everything she wants to do.
