While this album clearly has a different tone than her other, it is still brilliant! It's beautiful, haunting, and emotional. My personal favorite is Sarah, what's yours?

I've been a huge fan of Kate Miller-Heidke since a friend brought back her Curiouser album from an Australian music festival, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this new album. (I pre-ordered the import from Australia because I couldn't wait for the US to catch up.) This album certainly delivers. It's got great story-telling, beautiful and haunting lyrics that will send chills down your spine, and Kate's amazing vocals-- that fine line she's got with her operatic training and her quirky pop voice is fabulous. I was addicted to the beauty of the song "Nightflight" before really picking up on the lyrics (all about traveling, and traveling without the one you love). Seriously, only Kate can make the lyric "And if one more person coughs on me, I'm going to punch them in the face" sound so gorgeous. Speculation that the story being told in "Sarah" is based on true events makes that song even more powerful. The covers of her own Fatty Gets a Stylist / Liberty Bell numbers, "Let Me Fade" and "The Tiger Inside Will Eat the Child," are so delicious. Even listening to both versions and knowing they are both KMH, it's hard to believe it isn't two different people. The versions on Nightflight are really magnificent. "Let Me Fade" may be my favorite song on the album. This album is a bit darker and less quirky than Curiouser, but it's still ridiculously fabulous. I highly recommend purchasing it. And if you get the chance to see her live (she's touring the US June/July of 2012), do it. It's one of the most amazing shows I've ever been to, even when it's just her and Keir. I've converted a number of friends to fans after taking them to one of her concerts. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

The music is moody and lifting and combines with great story telling. Her Opera training shines through on occasions. Kate's voice reminds me of Judie Tzuke but that is three decades ago! Buy it. Michael
