I purchased this album today and had it playing while I studied. It was the perfect accompaniment! As always, Charlie Peacock surprises and inspires. As a long time fan since the 80's, I love this example of his present work and hope this means this will be the first in a series like the West Coast Diaries. Bravo!

To make good lemonade (I'm talking about the real stuff) you have to have just the right mix of tart and sweet, shaken and stirred. Charlie nails it with this fresh jazzed piano + imagination. Bravo!!!

The most enjoyable sixty minutes I’ve spent listening to music in many moons. Charlie has an exceptional musical vocabulary, surveying influences of many of the most remarkable jazz pianist of the past century, while putting his own reflective and lyrical stamp on these compositions.

By turns plaintive, reflective or adventuresome, “Lemonade” explores a rich, resonant array of hues and phrasings. Each track brings something special to the table, for this release mingles subtle jazz artistry with a deft displays of technique. We are treated to twelve compositions of genuine grace and beauty—tracks to return to again and again. They reveal new treasures—and perspectives—each listen through. The advent of this album is a cause célèbre.

It is my opinion that Charlie is one of the best song writers. This recording only deepens my appreciation for how he is able to communicate through music. Vivd pictures and emotion are in this masterful recording. I am not a muscian so I can comment on the technical merit of the piano playing. To me the beauty and emotion that is delivered can only be done by a master. Vessel is the word that comes to mind. The music flows through Charlie and always carries meaning. Very moved by what is flowing through you. THANKS for all the years of being a vessel.
  • AN INSTANT CLASSIC!!!

Over the course of his predictably unpredictable career, Charlie Peacock continues to stretch his artistry at a time when most would simply rest on their laurels, dial it in, and regurgitate a formula that’s proven successful in the past. LEMONADE reveals a side of Charlie’s improvisation talents that has been hinted at during moments of his riveting live shows but has never (until now) been captured in any of his previous recordings. LEMONADE is possibly Peacock most intimate and personal recording to date – an instant classic.

It's a bit of a challenge for me to write this review with an unbiased approch. I've been a fan of Charlie Peacock's music for over 20 years. I've appreciated his varying styles (some to a larger degree than others), and have always viewed him as an immense talent. I give you that in the spirit of full disclosure. All that said, "Lemonade" is an enjoyable, if not different listen. My initial reaction to most of the songs was that they could very easily be a perfect fit in any Peanuts animated special. In other words, if you like Vince Guaraldi's piano styles in those specials, you'll probably like this album. I'm not going to "review" each individual song on the album, but I will say that my initial standouts are "Our Father Always Near Us", "Jude, As In Hey Jude", "Bill's Ballad Unravelled", and "Homeless In The Cosmos". I look forward to learning what the story was behind some of these songs, if the opportunity presents itself. Buy this album today. You won't be disappointed.
