Even with the Mona Lisa of the violins Anne Akiko Meyers is a distant runner-up after hearing Jansen's interpretation. Sorry -

But standard reading of the work. The playing all around is good, but it's a crowded field of recordings of the same piece. -Bz

Listen to track 2 first. The violin is just amazing, she makes it sing!! Absolutely the most beautiful violin sound I've ever heard.
  • Too many recordings?

Another reviewer said there were too many recordings of this masterpiece. That reviewer is so sadly in error. I heard this recording on our local PBS radio station and bought the CD. Now I have boughten the version here. A beautiful, spotless recording. To that other viewer: appreciate the music. To everyone else: buy this, it is a masterpiece.

Fantastic performances of Vivaldi! My favorite Four Seasons by far and what a violin sound. The triple concerto is also amazing and the Part is a nice surprise.

Anne Akiko Meyers is an excellent violinist and plays great on this album. I can do a search in the ITunes Store and find countless recordings of The Four Seasons. Too me this is obviously a classic, but over recorded.

Wonderful addition to any collection of The Four Seasons recordings. Meyers plays the famous Vieuxtemps del Gesù violin - made by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù in 1741 - which was offered for sale at auction in 2010 with a starting bid of $18 million, the highest price ever sought for a musical instrument. The violin was later sold for an undisclosed sum and Anne Akiko Meyers was given lifetime use. This is its premier recording. It provides for a rich, deep sound on this affecting interpretation of The Four Seasons.
