Recently heard her on Sound Opinions. Loved the live studio songs. Checked out the album and was not disappointed. Classic R&B sounds with modern audio aesthetic.
  • Rad throwback!

I wouldn’t say "I’m a huge Kelis fan” by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve got to give her props for her latest efforts. “Food” is soulful and rich, a sound you’re not likely to find on any Top 40 station or, even, college radio station in the U.S.. A lot of good offerings to be had here.

I'm going insane listening to this album so many times! Truth be told, I didn't get the whole thing, but the songs that I did get are too awesome for words. Thank you for blessing us with this new funk that you have so smoothly brought unto your fans, Ms. Kelis. I think that Ninja Tune is doing more for Kelis than Interscope was, although I did enjoy a few songs off of Flesh Tone. Since every album Kelis has sold was under a different record label each time (LaFace, Interscope, Arista), she always comes back with a new sound. I think she may benefit from sticking with Ninja Tune for a while, because this is the most relaxed (and incredible) I've heard Kelis sound so far. But off the topic of her other albums, what a comeback! I mean, I hate to say that, because even when she didn't have a recent album out, she was still being listened to by me, but I digress. I had a feeling that Kelis would come back half as strong, because that's what so many artists who have "comebacks" have been doing lately, but she came back twenty times stronger! If you were just a fan of her "Milkshake" era, then you need to go somewhere. If you only liked her because of the electronic vibe in Flesh Tone, then maybe go listen to some other nu jazz music. If you liked her stuff from the 90's, then you'll almost definitely like Food. Fans of select songs of hers won't like Food, but long-time fans will love it like a Nubian child. Kelis, you restored my faith in the music industry. Thank you.

I like maybe ONE song on this album, which is “Bless The Telephone”… Althought the album is well produced and put together, She’s not a bad artist, I just couldn’t really relate to any of the tracks. 9 bucks I regret spending.
  • Incredible.

It’s a completely different direction than Flesh Tone, but that’s not a bad thing. This album is beautiful, soulful, and soothing. Kelis is so underrated! I love this album. I’d definitely recommend this album to anyone looking for a good listening album. Her voice is beautiful. Recommended!

Kinda has a 70s vibe to it. This is the type of album that needs to grow on you
