An interesting take on Shubert. I was surprised by the colaboration by St. John and friends. The inclusion of a harp was an odd choice, but works well enough in context. -Bz

Lara St. John has outdone herself with this one! As a fellow soprano, I am delighted to hear Anna Prohaska as such a perfect addition to the violin, harp, and cello. A must have for your classical music collection! Brava!

I'm not always much a fan of the harp, but I am definitely a Schubert-lover, and this album does not disappoint. Beautiful music, beautifully performed.

This album is simply stunning. I was dubious at first about the concept of these transcriptions, wondering if they would work for harp. I have never been so glad to be wrong. I doubt that I will ever be able to go back to listening to the original piano recordings after hearing this. Especially the Impromptus, which sound tailor-made for harp! Just an amazing recording. And it goes without saying that the musicianship is superb. Langlamet has a sound that is so incredibly clear and dynamic. Prohaska, St. John, and Quandt are such fine additions. They perfectly match Langlamet and present Schubert’s music as I would imagine he would want his music to be heard. And the Arpeggione!!! Oh my god, is it insanely good! This is my favorite classical disc this year, hands down. It really is tremendous. I’m busy now looking into the back catalogues of Langlamet, St John, Prohaska, and Quandt to see what hidden jewels I’ve been overlooking. What a brilliantly recording and what a delight it is to know that such musicianship still exists.

I can’t wait for this to download - I have spent hours listening to every preview moment of every track and I love not only the music, but the harp playing and articulation of Ms. Langlamet is sublime. The renowned soprano is rightly so - she has a voice of uncommon clarity - and it is refreshing to hear the the Arpeggione sound like one of Schubert’s masterpieces and not a cello warhorse. All thanks to Lara St John for creating something so exquisite on her label, and for her playing of the D major Sonatina. I can’t recommend this highly enough. This could my favorite album of all the Schubert recordings I have. M.J.
