  • JC and Maury Meulheisen - American Treasures Lost

Jim and Maury grew out of the "great folk scare" of the 60s and blended their own unique brand of American rock. Great musicians both, they crafted simple yet elegant melodies with witty and memorable lyrics. Jim was just coming into his own as a renowned entertainer with a broad spectrum of appeal. He had paid his dues playing the "DewDrop Inn" places, even giving up music for a while, before hooking up with Maury, another Pennsylvania guy. I'll never forget where I was when I heard of their untimely deaths, the terrible sadness I felt not only for myself but for the whole world. 35 years later, we can only wonder where their genius would have led, and the beautiful music that might have been. This video is Jim and Maury at their best, it's something precious and timeless - just like them. NOTE ABOUT THIS VIDEO - great as it is, the download version has a really terrible intro by some old hippie blathering, and a narrative at the end which almost RUINS this great video performance. ITUNES should be faulted for not disclosing this, as some might find it unnecessary and cheesy. 5 stars on the video, ZERO stars on the intro and idiotic epilogue.

I watched this video on iTunes and tears came to my eyes. As a teenager, I discovered Jim only after his death, but knew and felt every one of his songs. He was a great songwriter and storyteller. Listen to the words and the melodies, he was taken from us way too soon.
  • Great songwriter.

No BS here. Mr Croce had that hard to come-by gift of creating his own thing, yet sounding so deceptively simple.
  • Jim Croce’s humble style of music went straight to the heart.

Jim Croce’s humble style of music went straight to the heart. “Operator” hit the Top-40 in November 1972, and stayed there for 8 weeks. Croce stirred so many of us with his intimate words, I bet you all can remember where you were when you first heard a Jim Croce tune. His songs touched a generation and they continue to move listeners today. If you enjoy the Rock n Roll and R and B music of the 60s and 70s, you will enjoy Jim Croce’s “Operator”.
