This is really just a response to others who wrote a poor review. Boo hoo. This song is catchy and cute, plain and simple. You whiners out there who are saying “look at where the cool kids are in 10 yrs and see if you want to be like them then” are very clearly psychologically damaged by your middle and high school experiences. Get over it. Its not a terrible message - it is bringing to life how some children feel. I would go so far as to say that this was written from a perspective of having personally gone through some things themselves/herself. So, if you dislike Echosmith’s expression then don’t listen to them. Trust me, they’ll be fine without you.

Just remember you don't have to be a "cool kid" in school or anywhere else! Your cool for your fun qualities! For example you love sewing even though it's not "cool" in your school (or anywhere else) just be you! That's pretty cool!

What This Second Video Version of Cool Kids Has Going for It Is It Was Directed By Mark Pellington of The Legendary Pearl Jam's "Jeremy"! This Video Won't Have The Same Relevance of Jeremy But It By All Means Was Great!

Echosmith sound very well organized, and have a cool, collected voice/sound. The only part about this is that the message is just horrible. "I wish that I could be like the cool kids" is just horrible. You should see what happens to the "cool kids" in 10 years, then maybe you'll change your mind. I would never want to be a cool kid, and never will be. Middle School is the time when you find out who you really wanna be, and most people try and aim for being a cool kid. Unlike the others, I would rather be an outcast with one or two good friends with the same likes and personality as me! Being a cool kid just ruins your life! Maybe just one day skipping school could get you expelled with no education. Maybe just one day playing pranks on your friends could get you into detentions and losing your closest friends. Maybe buying a ton of makeup and expensive clothes will leave you broke, and by the time you have to go to college, you'll have no money left and become homeless. It's a terrible career path to choose, being a "cool kid". I honestly hate this songs message that they're spreading to 8-14 year olds, and they're actually listening. They're getting themselves beaten up, bullied, and rejected just trying to follow this songs terrible message. What these 4 talented young artists don't realize is that they're ruining these children's lives by getting them mixed up and confused on who they really should be. I hate this song, I hate the message they're spreading to children, and I hate everything about this horrid, overrated, trashy, disgusting, etc song! So whoever is reading this, please listen to what I say and don't follow their terrible wording.

What is up with the video? They make it sound like all outcasts always do stupid sad faces and want to be like shallow cool people. They're just as bad as them. You have to comfortable with yourself. I'm an outcast and I'm okay with that. Better than hanging out with those b****es. I act different, and spontaneous, and loud, and strange and people think I'm crazy but whatevs. Outcasts are not all the same. They're not all ugly wannabes. Those people are shallow and stupid. Outcasts are outcasts because they don't fit in. If you're smart, you'll realize you don't want to fit in. You should want to be yourself. So whatever. Guess you're your own clique. You just have to think "well there was no place for me before. Now I've made one." Funny thing is, there are a lot of lonely, friendless wannabes. You should make friends with them. If I was a lonely, friendless wannabe, I'd do that. You should be happy with that. If you'll only be happy when you're a cool person, you'll never be pleased with your materialistic fake wannabe self. You have to be yourself. I spent 6th grade acting exactly like how I'm saying not to act, looking like a lost puppy dog, being shown all the signs people don't want you, and I still tried to hang out with them. 7th grade, I said nothing. Did nothing. Only my work. I was like an emotionless statue. 8th grade I didn't care what happened, the last 2 years wouldn't repeat themselves again. I acted like my weird loud self, people looked at me funny, but I made a couple friends. People who had my personality liked me, cool people thought I had gone crazy. But nobody noticed me when I was quiet. They thought all I was was a statue. Who wants to hang out with a statue? Or a clingy person? Just be yourself, give people a chance to see your character. Don't be shy. Nobody is shy. We're all crazy, it's just harder for some of us to show it. Don't wait for a chance. Give yourself a chance.
