This is My Dying Bride at their resurrected best. After faith wanned after 34.788%, fans begun to question just where this band was headed. The band's resounding response came in the coalesced form of the Dreadful Hours, arguably one of their best albums. Aaron's vocals are a myriad of guttural growls, harsh blackened screams, whimpering, melancholic laments and elequent voice. Andrew's lead guitar is not to be ignored, as he provides their archetypical, vintage sound while Ade adds driving, ominous bass lines (as always). Despite the departure of violinist Martin Crapface (currently with Cradle of Filfth...) the atmospheric elements in this album still permeate the composition, although the environment is somewhat departed from the sound of "Trinity" or "The Angel and the Dark River." The title track is masterful and the entire flow and continuity of the album is magnificent. Le Figlie Della Tempestra (The Daughter of the Storm), My Hope, The Destroyer, The Deepest of All Hearts and The Return to the Beautiful are classics. This album is HIGHLY recommended.

This album is one of those things that really makes you lie back and wonder "How sad were these guys when they wrote these songs?" And honestly its best to listen to when youre in a depressed sort of mood bc you realize your definitely not the only one. After the first two minutes of only two guitars and a background of falling rain, you are immediately entranced into the Death/Doom metal that is My Dying Bride. Not only does it succesfully combine tones of harsh death metal and melodies of dark symphony-backed choruses, but it's one of the few types of music left in our world that is both heavy and melodic. A definite must-have album by these Brits.

After the Dreadfull 34....(I'm Too Lazy) and it's medorcre sucessor, my expectations for this album were low, very low...This was one of few time i like to be wrong. The Album Starts Out with the title track, a damn fine opener, and song, within the first minute, all my previous fears vanished. As Usual The Lyrical Themes Deal With The Subject Of Love, Death, And The Death Of A Loved One. A Crule Taste of winter, is A deep, powerfaul track, with great lyrics, And Aaron doesn't sound as whiny as he usualy dose. Once this album starts up, it never lets go of your emotions, If You Are Looking For an nother "Turn Loose The Swans" Look Else where, but if you want a depresive, melodic, Modern Doom Album, Look No Further.
