This album is really great and I prefer it to any other version (so far, I'm buying Sutton's CD as well (I saw the show yesterday and it was AMAZING!!!!). But just to clear things up the 1930s cast starred ethel merman and William Gaxton (NO bing crosby!!!), there was a 1962 off broadway revival (which is what this is), THEN came Patti in the 80s and now Sutton. Do your research ;) And buy this a amazing album!!!

Great cast recording, gotta love Cole Porter. A couple people mentioned in the reviews that this isn't the original, because Bing Crosby wasn't in it. BING CROSBY WASN'T IN THE ORIGINAL 1930s CAST! This recording of the 1930s cast was RELEASED in the 1960s. There was no production of Anythign Goes on Broadway in the 60s. Patti LuPone's production was in the 80s. Do your research before leaving awful comments like that.

This is written and sung extremely well. The entire thing is pure genius. I'm especially impressed with the lyrics to You're the Top: I made a bet with another drama geek (like myself) that I could update it. Let's just say that that's no walk in the park. I managed to do it, but there were very few good lines: the original is full of them.
  • Not the original cast

While this is a great recording and is the version of the show that is now usually the one licensed and performed all over, the show opened in 1934 with Ethel Merman; this 1962 version is a revival. There are some songs from '34 that are not in this, and likewise, some songs in this that were not in '34. Porter was still alive at this time though so I'm assuming he was involved in the changes made. Just so ya know! Either way, it's great stuff.
  • Awesome show!

The reason Buddie Beware isn't in this recording is because the character in this is Bonnie, not Erma. The character of Erma is in the Patti Lupone version instead of Bonnie, and she sings "Buddie Beware." We recently did this version of the show at my school. I was Bonnie. It was a really fun part and an amazing show!

This isn't the original - Bing Crosby was in the original from the 60s. Just FYI. I'm sure this soundtrack is great though.
