In my view point, Gene Pitney was and still is the greatest artist that walked the earth.
This album is just a small bit of the wonderful songs he sang. Track #15 is Gene Pitney and Mark Almond.He is singing a duet. The preview doesn't have Gene in it, but if you buy the song, you'll hear Gene. Gene Pitney sang all of his songs wonderfully. The whole album is great. If you are considering buying the album, you should do it. You will not regret it.

I'm giving a shout out to "Looking Through the Eyes of Love," which has a relatively low popularity rating but was a big hit is and one of my favorite Pitney recordings.
"It Hurts to be in Love" still gives me chills. He sang straight from the heart.

great to have this collection. there'll never be another gene, but i did see a video on youtube of Eddie Skuller singing Gene's "only love can break a heart" and he really did a great rendition! more gene please, iTunes!

Gene Pitney was one of my "all-time" favorite singers. He had such a unique voice that could stretch over octaves and be as clear as glass.
I was in Junior and High school when all his music came out and just previewing this album brought back memories and goose bumps. (I'm going to buy it as soon as I finish writing this review)
Back then, I had a fairly decent voice and I would sing along with all of Gene's songs as they were released. My buddies would crank up the volume on the car radio when "I'm Gonna Be Strong" played and would challenge me to hit all the notes without my voice cracking! It was a challenge because my voice was changing at the time. Ah, puberty.
I can't say enough. Maybe it's a combination of his voice and my memories that make Gene Pitney great.

Most folks aren't familiar with G.P.'s song "Mecca" (it's included on this record).
It's my favorite G.P. song. The lyrics are very original, and the tune has a great groove--it really rocks. But the best part is the guitar solo. It's like something that Pete Townshend of The Who might play. It's an awesome riff--way ahead of its time.
