Seriously, that's the first time I'm writing a review ever in my life. I knew Chuck's music for a long time and always recognized his pionner quality and Mr. Groove inventor in my humble (and very picky critical) opinion. But this album will knock you down inside your bones. If you don't buy this album your missing a chance to elevate your life. Seriously! This is GROOVE with a great amount of spicy rap without the booty but all the sexy appeal you could ever dream. There're a lot of great music out there and I have an eclectic collection of some of the best in this world. This one is among my 10 best. I know now that I can make a gift to anybody I love to support, validate and elevate their life. Chuck means honesty to me! Thank you Chuck.

Chuck Brown is a Washington, DC institution and our "National Treasure!" This man started "Go-Go!" He is 70+ years old and still manages to stay current with what is happening on the music scene today. For those who don't know what "Go-Go" is, it is a genre of music (a sort of sub-genre of funk music) that originated in Washington, DC. Although there were several bands that contributed to the evolution of Go-Go, Chuck Brown developed most of the characteristics or hallmarks of the style. The song "Bustin' Loose"(1978)...that was Chuck! The song reached #1 on the Billboard Charts in February/March 1979. Several mainstream artists have sampled Go-Go songs or used Go-Go beats: Salt 'N Pepa - "My Mic Sounds Nice", L.L. Cool J - "Rock the Bells", Grace Jones - "Slave to the Rhythm"...just to name a few. Go-Go Band EU (Experience Unlimited) received international exposure when they were featured in Spike Lee's movie "School Daze" performing their song "Da Butt." My husband and I were having lunch at Ben's Chili Bowl today and "Chuck Baby" started playing on the jukebox. Everyone in the place was bobbing their heads! People were still singing the song long after it had ended! I left Ben's and went straight to store to buy this CD! As we say in DC, "This joint is CRANKIN'!" This is the serious party/driving CD. It was produced by Carl "Chucky" Thompson who has produced for artists such as Mary J. Blige, Biggie, NAS, Faith Evans, etc. If you are not familiar with Chuck Brown's music, this would be a wonderful introduction for you. The CD, like Chuck's live concerts, will not disappoint. My favorites are "Chuck Baby" (Chuck's daughter KK has a really nice flow on this one), "Theme from 'The Godfather'", and "Block Party." Maryland native and most-able crooner, Raheem DeVaughn makes an appearance on the song "Eye Candy." We (the DC Metro area) pledge our allegiance to Chuck Brown! He rocks!

I have been looking for Go-Go on Itunes for months, and I have found classic stuff but finally they have some new Go-Go and from the Godfather no less. For all of you out there that love Go-Go get this album you will not be dissapointed. I haven't been back home to DC in years but this album instantly takes me back. Lets push to have the Go-Go Genre permanetly added to Itunes so that music like this doesn't get lost in the shuffle and finally get it out of the underground.

Chuck Brown is a serious force to be reckoned with. At no time in music history has music (particularly Chuck and his sound) crossed the largest generational population and segment. At no time in history can you find 3 generations jammin at the same time in the same venue. He's got samples from George Benson, fused with sheer Go Go, and Funk. And no one is really writing about this. Prince, Mick Jagger, and Elvis can claim crossing two generations. But Chucks got the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Gen X, Y and the Milleniums. Pure History in the Making.
  • A must buy!!!!
