  • AWB at their Best and there's an important reason...

People often don't realize that Pick Up the Pieces, while a great song in any form, would not have been the iconic archetype it is without drummer Robbie McIntosh. He died of a freak o.d. shortly after the album's release. A good funk drummer can always do the job (as is shown in the 1977 live version). But when you hear the original, with Robbie's one of a kind, raw, minimalist, funk mastery; the difference is obvious. The had a lot of great drummers after Robbie. But none could infuse the groove like Robbie. He is why this is a essential album for anyone with ears. Enjoy!

These Scottish white boys put down the white funk in the seventies. I have always grooved with these guys. Love them. I listen to them today when I want to remenise.

Born out of JB funk, it defines the Horn Band that we see in clubs and on later records. It is really timeless and a must for avery Funkin Lover.

This was the album of the decade in 1973. These guys came out of nowhere and laid down the smoothest badazz funk we ever heard! Songs of love and heartfelt lyics that sent you spinning. Saw the new group with 2 surviving members at Jazz Alley in Seattle Sept 13th. They still have the AWB groove..no doubt. It was amazing to hear them sounding sweet after 35 years!
  • this one was blowing away all of the house parties back in the day
