I love NIN, but I felt that the majority of the songs we're like old tracks with female vocals. I was really looking forward to hearing Trent's rough voice again, but was dissappointed. Marqueen is not a bad singer by any means, just I was not expecting it. I find myself listening to "A Drowning" and "A Space in Between" more than any of the other tracks. It's not NIN but it's still a decent album.

All this is is NIN music put to a woman (his wife I know) singing. plus you can get it for free on their website so Why is iTunes wanting to make some extra money?
  • it's ok but..

Hmm, so Kelli Ali (former lead singer of Sneaker Pimps) was too busy when he made this trash heap? I shouldn't say it's a trash heap, but it does nothing for me. No wonder they're giving it away for free on their website! I've read other reviews on other music websites and some were positive, but more than half were negative, including on this one. However I wanted to have a listen for myself, hoping that it wasn't as "lame" as everyone said it was. Haters will hate, but alas, it does sound like the stale left overs of some early B side NIN stuff put together too lazily and too haphazardly. As I said before, Kelli Ali could have made this much more interesting. Why Trent had to put his mediocre wife on the album is puzzling. Its almost like he did it because he didn't want to have to sleep on the couch! Or wifey is pulling a Courtney Love/Kurt Cobain move on TRez. I don't know, I'm hoping this little pet project of his gets put to sleep or he replaces wifey with someone with more balls behind her voice. If he wanted NIN with a female voice, we've all heard WAY THE HECK better female singers in other bands that would have rocked this "noise"! And I would've most definitely bought that album. I'm gonna go listen to Kelli Ali's "Ideal" now to make me feel better...

This is the softer side of Trent Reznor that is still somehow no less brutal... Think "Hurt" except voiced by what sounds like a fallen angel. Probably not the best entry-level material if you're looking to check out Trent's work for the first time (start at Pretty Hate Machine and work your way forward like most of us), but freaking brilliant as an evolution of his work.

NIN with soft touch, quite enjoyable!!! Mr. Reznor's wife's got a great scratchy soft voice that goes perfect with the music!!!

That luscious voice over that noisy rhythmy goodness is like sweet cream on a hot fudge brownie. Yum!

this e.p. is great because anything Trent creates is amazing. The vocals just don't quite do it for me though with the exception being the song "A Drowning". A couple of the songs have seemingly pointless lyrics that just repeat themself over and over again. But even that's not enough to ruin the music completely. I say save your 5 bucks and go download it off HTDA website for free. It's a good e.p., just not mind blowing.

I must say, my favorite song of this mini EP would have to be A Drowning. Some of the other songs are skippers though, which is unfortunate but it happens. If you are expecting fast paced Reznor with new vocals then you'll have to wait for the new album to see, but if this is a preview I wouldn't hold your breath. One thing I have to bring up is that this whole CD is available for free on the How to Destroy Angels website, and lossless download is 2 bucks. I came here and was surprised to find each track is a buck. Might want to look into it before clickin' that '$0.99 Buy' button.
