Timeful Christmas!

Quite eclectic! Style is very McGarrigle/Wainright, and they create tradition of their own. I located myself in numerous locations through out the album. It feels a little choppy, but what christmas album isn't? I imagined being in church, at a desert campfire, driving through NYC, and my own family traditions, where I could introduce this album to my family dinner. It has a flavor for most. Some flavors I did have to sample a few times, but was able to appreciate eventually, again, like most songs for me. It was so enjoyable, I got tickets to see their Christmas concert next month in NYC. Very excited! Thank you for this album.
Pleasant Surprise

Despite all the positive reviews I was still very pleasantly surprised--this album is indeed five star-good! It's not your typical Christmas compilation, but don't fear any unfamiliar titles. It has a warm and genuine feel to it that will resonate with you until the tracks have truly become a part of your own holiday tradition. The vocals are fantastic (esp. if you like Rufus Wainwright or Emmylou Harris). It manages to be festive without being annoying, traditional without being boring, and even a little fun. I've listened to it repeatedly over the past two days and haven't begun to tire of it yet, nor bring myself to switch to any of my other Christmas albums!

I have horrible downloads from years ago of Rufus singing "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" from the old GAP commercial. Thank you EW for listing this CD in your "Santa's Soundtrack" article this week (issue#854) and thank you McGarrigle Sisters for your heartfelt Christmas gem.

A great Xmas compilation from the incomparable Kate and Anna McGarrigle. The iTunes "review" is actually about a different Kate and Anna record altogether. Come on boys and girls -- get your #$*@ together!
