  • What a band!

It's been so long since a band knocked my socks of with its playing, singing, writing, and sheer originality. A swampy/funky hybrid of Stevie Wonder, Little Feat and perhaps Tower of Power, this band is absolutely SMOKIN'! And the live videos you can find on Youtube prove that it's not just "studio magic" that makes this band sound so good - they are truly the real deal. Check them out while they're still touring smaller clubs at affordable ticket prices, because if there's any justice in the world, this band will be HUGE one day.
  • The best album of 2014!

I buy and listen to tons of different genres of music and without a doubt this is my favorite album of the year and from beginning to end is amazing. Mixing soul, blues, and funk to complete perfection with their own Texas flare. Buy it and see them live. They are an amazing band.

I can assure you that if you go see this band live you will NOT be able to stay in your seat for more than 10 minutes. They are quintessential musicians and even better showmen! Cross between Little Feat and James Brown. Everybody needs to get on the bandwagon now.

Sorry I’m about a month late to this party! I’ve been a big fan of these guys for a few years now and am unfortunately yet to see them live (I live in Michigan) but this album will ease the pain for a little while! Listened to it top to bottom twice on a recent flight and all of a sudden it was time to land. Starts nicely out of the gate with “End of the World,” a song that has all the hook and catchiness with which “Dirty Gritty” grabbed my attention. “Silver Lining” is an excellent soulful tune that reminds me a little of another favorite artist of mine, Gavin DeGraw, but he certainly doesn’t have this killer horn section or arrangement variety. I’ve been waiting for a recording of “On Time” since the YouTube version came out … there simply isn’t enough to say about this anthem to patience and confidence in times of self-doubt. Beautifully sung, great horn parts, complementary additions from the keys and guitar, subtly groovy bass. “Where Did You Come From” smacks purely of Motown from the clean guitar intro to the vocal harmonies to the sexy baritone sax solo. Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye would dig it. To that end, “Fireproof” possesses a similar nostalgia and serves as a worthy conclusion to the project. Reminds me of the emotion that their song “Laid It Down” also evokes. The open ending gives hope for better things to come, and while that’s a tall order for Mingo Fishtrap they always seem to serve it up hot, fresh, and ON TIME.

This new Mingo Fishtrap lays down some sweet, and tasty grooves - some Funk, some R&B, all groovy. Nicely done!

I became a fan when I first heard Poison Ivy. This project has a Funky POP/Motown sound. Great horn and vocal arrangements, catchy hooks, and genuine lyric delivery. Congrats on this album. Come back to the Galveston area! We have a "Magic Mason Jar" waiting on ya!

Ladies and gentlemen, this band is the real deal. Soulful, funky and FUN music that is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. I only discovered them a couple of years ago and they've since become one of my favorites! 'On Time' delivers the goods and contains masterful songwriting blended with flawless vocals and musicianship. Go. Download. Now. (In fact, download all of their albums. There's not a bad song in any of them.) But if you really want to be blown away, SEE THEM LIVE! They're one of those undiscovered treasures that you will wish you knew of before they got BIG!

with root that range from otis redding to little feat, this is a phenomenal band both live and on record. They are as compelling emotionally as they are musically. This is a rare mixture in today's musical world. Buy this album and all the others, and if you have the chance, see them live--it is amazing
  • Best yet!

Big...Bold...Brassy! I'd venture to say that "On Time" proves that the Mingo boys have brass balls!! What's not to like: a powerhouse father and son combo plus the best Kiwi trumpet player ever to get a green card. Great work.
