Pure Punk

This tour was the only time I saw Patti Smith. I remember the lights went out and the opening chords to Gloria came on. She appeared draped with an American flag and when the band kicked into full gear the place went nuts. Very incendiary performance and, by far, the most punk show I’ve ever been to.
The record? Just as great. Still own it on vinyl and I just bought it on iTunes so my kid can listen to it on his way to school.

Patti Smith is one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) rock stars ever. The fusing of punk and poetry on this record is excellent. Put on "Gloria", and prepare to have your mind blown wide open.
