Always liked the song and video - from decades ago when MTV played videos and I just saw them on a talk show the other evening and they explained how this version came about. WOW, I'm watching Letterman and they are playing with the band tonight, introduced just now. What a coincidence. Nice tribute to Barrack.

DIDNT SNL SING THIS SONG A COUPLE MONTHS AGO??

Come on, guys. They aren't trying to make a load of money. Saturday Night Live did a skit that was supposed to be Michelle and Barack, and they sang this version of the song. It was absolutely hilarious, and Ashford and Simpson liked it so much they wanted to record it themselves. Thus, it's not just another one of those "Obama" songs... I'm pretty sure this one is just a joke. Just laugh and move on!

Now this is capitalism at work… I remember this song when it was released back in the 70’s………I think it’s cool that some smooth jazz singers can get a little extra in the bank. GO Obama GO! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

SNL copied Ashford & Simpson, not the other way around. Get your facts straight before you display your ignorance to the world.

Ashford and Simpson retool their classic 1985 hit to serve as a tribute to the 44th President of the United States. The pun here may be cheesy, but the lyrics and singing are clever and heartfelt.

OK, people. Stop hatin....no one expects our new president to fix everything overnight. Or to "fix" everything, period. Because our country's problems are huge.... But a majority of Americans feel like we're headed in a good direction. That's why Obama was elected. It's a democratic process...the foundation of our country. If you don't like it, get out and vote. If you did vote and your candidate didn't win, at least you voted. Good for you. Stop whining...this song is just for FUN. I'm betting those of you who wrote the nasty reviews don't even know the original song -- Solid as a Rock.... sigh.
