honestly, i can't say a bad word about anyting, esp. this guy's music.
but... it's flimsy. catchy little tunes, a cute phrase here and there. but is that all we want out of our music? i feel like there is better music out there. more fulfilling.
i bought this album on a whim, after i heard his work on the go-getter. maybe that was my mistake? but i'm kinda regretting buying it now. the music holdds no feeling, contains no meaning. it's transparent and over-priced.
i liked it

Correction: The World? I'm jonesing for whatever he's going to do next. I really feel like each record has lively lovely organic evolution out of the last. How much more can the man improve upon his music? Sky is the limit, I think. No offense to Monsters of Folk and She & Him--they're both really great--but every time I hear them I selfishly want more of his "solo efforts." Has any songwriter ever been so consistently good across six LPs and one hell of a good EP? I'm not aware of anybody else...

A mix of rythmic southern hymnal and modern flare. Each floats straight through your soul carried by his beautifully haunting voice

M Ward's latest release is yet another solid one, combining his talent for soft pop-rock and country-folk in the way only Wardy ward can. Wardy ward.
Probably due to this album's popularity and amount of collaborations, this album was missing the personal warmth of Ward's earlier releases. The songs are good, but the melodies were not as compelling as past releases, and the occasional experimental touch didn't impress me (in the back of "Rave On", arguably one of the album's best songs, an atonal screeching is heard. It adds nothing to the music, except irritation and distraction. It sounds like the you are going to far to the right on a highway.) I recommend the Transfiguration of Vincent O'Brien, but Ward's fans should not miss this album either.
An absolute gem!!!!!

An absolutely beautiful record. Those who truly appreciate music will consider this a classic. Very broad range throughout with quality compilations. I enjoy all the filler instruments.

M. continues to do waht he does: play guitar very well and craft beautiful songs. What a great album. He pays little attention to trends and follows his heart to write meaningful songs. Worthwhile indeed.
