The songs recorded live at Woodstock are hugely disappointing. The remastering is terrible. They removed all the crowd noise, stage talk, and on Volunteers, removed Grace Slick exclaiming "Good Morning, People!" It makes the live songs sound sterile and empty. Some of the other Woodstock Experience albums are OK, but I can't recommend this one. As for the studio portion of this album, that sounds good. It still sounds like it was recorded in the 60's, which is a good thing, but somewhat cleaner and the bass comes through more clearly.

Ever since I was 16 years old and first got into the Airplane in 1978, I wondered what the band's Woodstock set list comprised of. Many people just thought it consisted of the songs already released from the show. Now when I see the complete set list in 2009, the Airplane continue to amaze me! I have never heard or seen them play "House At Pooneil Corners" anywhere live and they played it at Woodstock! This whole show illustrates the band's finest hour as a live band.
As for the CD configuration, I too was frustrated with the sequencing but it was nothing my ipod playlist couldn't fix. I now have the entire performance in one place in a playlist.
