My friends and I grew up listening to Gil Scott Heron and learned a lot from his wisdom in song. Growing up inner city in Philadelphia Gil Scott sang about not just our trials and tribulations of growing up but the trials and tribulation of all people across the world. His wisdom and how he sent his words and messages out will be sorely missed. It's is a shame that even with his internal demons that he had to deal with he was able to uplift the spirits of other human beings.
May GOD give him the peace,serenity and security he was seeking in his life.
I will truly miss him.

So sad to think this wonderful genius is now gone. GSH was an inspiring musician, the seed for what we now recognise as R&B and rap today. This album is great, but if you are new to his music, I highly recommend Pieces of a Man too.
