I have always loved this album. Stills vocals on the original vinyl leave a lot to be desired but his guitar playing both electric and acoustic are superb. I saw him perform this concert in Kansas City on this tour. Obviously I'm a fan but I think this album is a winner.
  • The Last Strong Solo Offering from a Genius

Around 1974, Stills played a packed Chicago Auditorium for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. In a sort of way, if this was his last strong effort at proving himself to the world, then he went out in a blaze of glory by assembling one of the best bands he ever had. This included guitarist Donnie Dacus, percussionist Joe Lala and Joe Walsh's backup band. Therefore he assembled one the hardest rocking bands he had ever been with post Manassas. He shines of course on the electric set, however, is through his heartfelt vocal renderings of Four Days Gone and Change Partners that seal the deal. It is sad how he unfortunately deteriorated vocally and musically after this live tour. Probably because he felt he had nothing left to prove, and after listening to this, Manassas, and any of the Buffalo Springfield and CSNY material, then it's easy to see how much of a genius this guy really is.

The songs available here are OK for 70's-style live electric guitar-virtuoso stuff, but Stills really shines on the acoustic tunes.

The last strong Stills solo offering. "Special Care" and "Four Days Gone" far eclipse their Springfield versions. "Jet Set" seems to acknowledge its similarity to the Joe Walsh tune, and "Wooden Ships" is a solid performance. Unfortunately, iTunes can't offer you the acoustic side: Stephen doing an excellent "Everybody's Talkin'", "Crossroads" with "You Can't Catch Me" tucked inside, and "Change Partners" (which hardly requires a full band). "Word Game", I think, concluded the set. With any luck a few more tracks might have been added to the CD re-release, but I sure enjoyed what was on the 1975 LP. Definitely recommended
  • Great live Stills CD from '74 but missing 5 tunes

I just bought this CD at B&N because I could not get the entire CD from iTunes. It's a great live CD. What this collection really misses is Change Partners and the other 5 songs. Wooden Ships is worth downloading.
