  • Rocking and rolling (at least) one more time

After five decades of rocking, rolling, and producing some of the finest music to come out of Germany, Scorpions are nearing the end of one long, but crazy road. It initially appeared that they were going to go out on top with the phenomenal Sting In The Tail -- BUT -- they weren't quite done yet. There is still a little gas left in the tank and they will keep going until there is nothing left. This might actually be about it, folks. This album is a mix between some older songs (Rock My Car was played live during the Monsters of Rock tours in the 80s) and even a couple of newer songs, generally co-written with the producers. The best songs are the ones which have the traditional Schenker-Meine stamp on them. The songs with the producer's influence are a mixed bag. Some songs such as "We Build This House" echo earlier songs such as "No One Like You", but the song "The Scratch" sounds a little out of place for a typical Scorpions album. Between the 50th Anniversary releases of 8 of their previous albums (with plenty of bonus material from demos to unreleased songs) and this album which completed a number of unfinished tracks across the ages, it looks like the band is clearing out the attic and making sure that they have given it their all and there is nothing more to be said. Perhaps not be the best Scorpions album, but what this album does represent is a celebration to Scorpions' amazing career. Draw up your favorite beverage, sit back, turn up Return to Forever and raise a toast to Scorpions. Prost! Favorite songs: Rock 'N' Roll Band & House of Cards
