This is a great Album but is it just me or is the song The Haven's Grey about the grey haven's in Lord of the Rings?

Andrew Peterson's lyrics have been speaking to my soul lately. This CD especially is like ... getting Tolkien and Lewis and Chesterton together in a room with the best bluegrass/folk artists and seeing what happens. Beautiful.
  • One of the best Christian artists.

I am a Christian, but I tend to have a general distaste for "Christian" music as a genre, because it tends to be formulaic, unoriginal, and boring. However Andrew Peterson is the exception to that rule. His music can be related to, isn't cheesy, and the lyrics are thoughtful. This is one of the few "Christian" albums in my music library for a reason.

Andrew Peterson strikes chords in people's hearts that allow them to connect to his music on a much deeper level and is one of my favorite songwriters of all time. Also, the Queen of Iowa...just wow.

Andrew played at our church last weekend and he is phenomenal. He had us laughing, crying and longing for more. The story behind Queen of Iowa is heart-wrenching and of Job proportions.

This CD absolutely blew me away when I first heard it. I was regularly moved to tears by kind of beauty contained in these songs that just breaks your heart. This music does a superb job of mysteriously causing you to relish in the taste of the world to come and at the same time long and ache for that coming day. Definitely a desert island CD for me.
  • One of the best CDs you've never heard (unless you've heard it; then you know).

Andrew Peterson is one of the best singer-songwriters out there and The Far Country is a perfect example of his masterful storytelling at work. Stand-out tracks include "The Far Country," "Lay Me Down," "Queen of Iowa," "Little Boy Heart Alive,".... oh, heck - I'm just listing them all! Check this album out! You will not be disappointed.
