Performed many MF tunes while in school and beyond. One of my all time favorites has been Country Road. Amazing music!! A legacy passing forward as my son now plays MF arrangements.

As a High School Student (early 1980's), I purchased the Vinyl version of this Album (along with Chameleon)... I distinctly remember the cone on my woofer working severe overtime on "Give it One" right after the "intro" like no other album I had ever owned! Maynard's arrangement of "Shaft" is powerful, too. I had the opportunity to play this piece in HS as well. A great album, and worth having in your collection!

Saw Maynard perform many of these in 1974 Interlochen Music Camp MI. I was 10 years old! Still remember them closing the show with Hey Jude. All the trumpet section was scattered in the isles through out the auditorium. WOW! Been hooked every since! Love "Give it One,Country Road,Shaft... (Yeah baby!)and Hey Jude.I would highly recomend the following CD's MF2,Chameleon,Live at Jimmy's(available again on CD I-tunes needs to add this!)and Conquistador(several songs on that are very good) In the 70's if you were in band you loved this stuff! bn

Maynard may be gone, but his legacy lives on. Our jazz band did Country Road last year, and it's amazing! I've played the Theme from Shaft before, and Maynard does it best!
