I joined the USMC in 1967, went to Vietnam, came back, Honorably Discharged June 1969. ! was only 19 and a combat vet. Illinois (I grew up in Rockford) still was 21 to drink alcohol, so I went to Beloit, Wisconsin to party because the legal age to drink was 18. My girlfriend and I saw REO doing their first album at WAVERLY BEACH in Beloit right by the river. I really liked this group, the music was great, and they put on a great show, and I could legally drink. I mean I come back from Vietnam and combat and could even buy a legal drink in Illinois. I spent many a night partying at various places like the Gaslight, but those summer nights at Waverly were real special.REO TWO is their second best album. Ahhh sweet summer memories of 1970 and 71. Bye.

This is the best of reo speedwagons early years I think I'm not positive but if think that this was a album that the band wrote while living on a college campus as well as the two album I think that Kevin Cronin was the best reo speedwagon front man because I know terry was the orginal lead singer great voice but sounds to me like mike Murphy's voice Kevin was who got the band big but this album had several good classic hard rock hits like 157 riverside avenue sophisticated lady anti established man but never was played on the radio as much as it should have been

I had never heard of REO Speed Wagon until 1972. I was attending a concert headlined by Black Oak Arkansas, and REO was the opening act. They blew Black Oak Arkansas completely off the stage! We all went out and bought this album shortly thereafter. To this day, this album transports me right back to that evening. Gary Richrath has to be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time.
  • Top 50 of all time

If I had to rank my top 50 this album would be part of it. Exile, Born to Run, abbey road would be top 5 but this one would be somewhere between 40 and 50, it's that good. I still listen to it 4 or 5 times a year after 41 years.

I was a young teen when this first came out. I was in a record store and they was playing it. Loved it immediately and bought it right away. As far as I'm concerned it's their first and only great rock album. Still have an still play it.

This was thefirst REO I heard not long after its release. I was in some ways dissapointed in later recordings which didn't seem to catch the fire of this one..."Sophisticaterd Lady" for example.

This is their first album and it definitely can be considered very progresive, thanks to Terry Lutrell, the groups original singer. The album can easily be compared to something the Doobie Brothers might have recorded. "Dead at Last" is worth getitng this album.
