Jars of Clay: Greatest Hits

This is one collection I won't be getting. If you have to get anything from this get "Love is the Protest". But as far as greatest hits albums for Jars, go with Furthermore. And in case anyone forgot the essential Jars of Clay that came out a year before this one and had two discs with it. It goes a lot deeper. Furthermore has a live and acoustic disc. Both are great.

Jars of Clay, along with DC Talk, are one of those great old christian bands that makes me start to bemoan the current era of gospel music. In other words, today's selection of christian music (most of it, at least) is disappointing. I hate to say it, but it's true. While all the new bands may have good messages and talented music, none of them are very different from each other. They all just have the same style, same boring songwriting techniques, and just seem to conform to whatever is popular at the time. Nobody goes for anything original. JOC, on the other hand, are about as far from that as you can get. they were never afraid to be themselves. Basically the band of my childhood, i've literally grown up with thier music. easily a 5 star album, Greatest Hits spans more than a decade of one of the foremost christian groups of all time. There really isn't much i'd take away from this album, but if I had to add something I'd probably add a few more stuff from the Eleventh hour, their most underrated album. If "I Need You" is on here, then "Fly" and "The eleventh hour" should be on here as well. "Sunny Days" is another song I feel like is missing. Besides that, however, its a entertianing, thought-provoking masterpiece that covers the career of the one of the greatest christian bands of our time. Yeah Jars!!!!!!

Almost all of their biggest hits in one place, plus awesome album art. It probably could have been two or even three discs long given the number of radio hits they have. It's a great place to start, yet if you say here you will miss out on the world of thoughtful, well-crafted and diverse music that is Jars of Clay.

Great group and great music. This is a must have collection for everyone who enjoys listening to Jars of Clay.

If you're not a long time fan already this is a great introduction to some of the best the band has to offer. You get a taste of each twist of their sound as Jars is one band never content with the status quo. Great band! In my opinion they've never made a cd that's less than 4 stars. For highlight cds by them also check out their self titled debut, If I left the zoo, and their newest the long fall back to earth.

Buy Flood, I Need You and Show You Love. Those are Jars Of Clay's only good songs. Nice to see them all on one cd.

This album has most of their best songs! Every song has a different mood. This band is my favorite christian band of all time!

I have got two words for you, because it is such an awesome cd. BUY IT!! I love you, jars of clay
