I am a musical snob. I will trash what I think is trend and hype and pop. I have been around many musical corners and done a lot of music myself. There are few albums, especially since the crap-rock 80s, that will stay with me. This album has haunted me with its beauty for years. There is not an unsingable or dull moment. It is drenched with a fresh atmosphere of open seas, whipping winds and frozen tundras. It is not stuck in a decade. It is truly classic. So... Today, to improved fidelity and the ability to share, I will purchase it again. The Bunnymen still influence today..

Echo & the Bunnymen are one of the Greatest Muscians to ever enter the field of music. The Killing Moon has to be one of the Top 10 of All Time. Ian can sure sing along with Will Pete and Les, creating a heavy rock and roll sound to the orchestra. Pete de Freitas's drumming has to be one of the most dramatic additions to the music. Nobody can sing Ocean Rain but Ian. OCEAN RAIN has fallen down on the world when this came out. IT's a must buy.

It was a dreammmmy concert, they performed this album with a full orchestra behind them. You really can't get more haunting and beautiful than that...

I've been listening to this album off and on for more than 20 years. The tempo, the way the songs blend into one another, the production value it's perfect. People ask me if I still listen to Echo and the Bunnymen. I reply, "yea and everyone else does now too. They're called Coldplay". Coldplay does a cover of Lips Like Sugar but I would like to see Chris Martin do an acoustic cover of Ocean Rain. I could listen to that song everyday. One of my top 10 albums of all time.

I think this is the best bunnymen album as a stand alone. Every song is pop perfection sans thorn of crowns and nocturnal me...blegh. But Everything else blows my mind. Impeccable production quality, i wouldnt think they could do it live but they do. They are an inspiration as to what musicians should strive to be.

Of all Echo and the Bunnymen's great albums, this is my favorite. Not a single song strikes me as a "filler," the songs thrown together in ten minutes to put more songs on the album. My personal favorite is "Nocturnal Me," a haunting song that gives me chills every time I listen to it. Anyone who's seen Donnie Darko will recognize "The Killing Moon," the opening song to the movie and a great one besides. And "Thorn of Crowns" ? What other band have you heard (besides They Might Be Giants) that will use vegetables in their songs? AND still sound cool? You won't regret buying this album. Ever.

I have been listening to this album since its release 24 years ago and have not tired of it at all. This album truly deserves classic status. Its too bad that most Americans have not appreciated this band and particularly this album. It remains a great album to listen to late at night. The strings, his voice and the lyrics all contribute to a romantic vision of rock best appreciated in the solitude of a quiet dark night.
  • Phenomenal - Highly recommended
