One of the best of the '80's

When I was living in L.A. and asst. mgr. of Licorice Pizza on Topanga Canyon in Canoga Park, this is one of my fav songs. The '80' in L.A. & the Valley were great, though my times in on the road rock bands based in the Cleveland, Midwest, and east coast for 10 yrs in the 70's and early '80's were the best. Wouldn't give up my "gypsy" years" for ANYTHING. Old Cleveland Agora near Cleveland State was our home base, along with the other shorter-lived agoras Agoras. Many great venues for live music(mostly one-nighters)ms we could actually(barely)make a living. Glory days!
Killing the Moon

Their best song. Every second of it is well crafted. Great use of dissonance. An anthem for the alternative music scene in the 80’s. Almost 30 years later, it is still fresh and relevant. It keeps getting airplay in movies, Audi commercials, and radio.

Good collection! Do It Clean is the best song the Hoodoo Gurus never wrote!
Postpunk Excellence

This is simply excellent postpunk. It's "alternative" before that term became diluted into meaninglessness. The angular grooves and guitars are reminiscent of Gang of Four, but hooks as catchy as anything from the New Wave coexist with the often rather darkly romantic and sociopolitically critical lyrics. One of the best bands of the 80s. The individual albums (especially Ocean Rain) are all worth exploring, but start here.

This is one of the best songs written.
Give it a listen.
The rest is good; but I would not recommend this album. Search all of Echo's albums and make your own selection!!
iTunes PLEASE get some early Echo on here

I guess my entire perspective is shaped by my experiences. I first saw Echo early in 1980. I was more of a Julian Cope fan, and if getting into how Teardrop Explodes formed up, and who they toured with, I was exposed to Echo very early. Croc's, Heaven & Porcupine were the defining style for me. Although I truely admire later efforts, nothing The Bunnymen ever did post 1984 could touch those early rampages. Just looking at how people have rated the songs contained in this LP points out the very different listening perspectives. For me, the first five cuts on this collection are solid, driving concoctions, with solid bass lines and haunting vocals. The production is kept to a minimum, throwing the raw energy directly into vinyl. My favorite Echo songs are "Villiers Terrace", "All That Jazz", "Higher Hell", The Cutter", "Over the Wall", "All I Want", "A Promise", "Fuel","Pictures on my Wall","Do it Clean", "Rescue", & "The Back of Love". The overall sound of the band was stark in comparison, but the ENERGY! Those boys could really Kick out the Jams (sorry MC5).
Beautiful!!

That's right. It is a brilliant compilation. This is not an album. It is a British "greatest hits" compilation of songs.
